Tiny, adorable baby goats
DING DING DING
CSers can bring up Neal’s mistakes all they want. Not only do they not excuse all the horrible things Hook has done in any way, but we all acknowledge and accept Neal’s mistakes, which is something the BA CSers (and a lot of non BAs, too) are completely unable to do with Hook. Which basically renders their arguments null and void as they prove a complete inability to view things with any kind of critical view or objectivity.
And you’re right, to make matters for them worse, Neal made a genuine apology to Emma for the things he did. The only apology Hook made for the countless horrible things he did over 3 centuries was a completely insincere apology to Belle that was only made because he was pressured to.
This is what’s Neal’s genuine apology looked like.
Here is Hook’s
One is genuine and filled with regret. The other is sarcastic and insincere. It’s not hard to tell which is which.
The thing that infuriates me so much about Hook’s ‘apology’ is that it’s not just that it’s insincere and sarcastic. It’s that it’s delivered like a child who doesn’t think he’s done anything wrong and can’t believe he’s being forced to apologize for it. And then everyone else is just like, “Geez, Belle, he said he was sorry. I can’t believe you’re being difficult and don’t want to be left alone with a man who has attacked and tried to kill you multiple times.”
Countless horrible things done to so many characters (including Emma), and this is the apology we get. Like the writers are just as indignant at the idea that Hook should feel sorry and say as Hook is.
Neal apologized to Emma and meant it with ever fiber of his being. Hook has yet to apologize for lying to her, actively trying to keep her from getting back to her son, locking her in a cell and leaving her for dead, calling her dried up and useless with the sole intent of hurting her.
Would it be sincere if he did apologize? Perhaps, perhaps not. But if it is, that goes to show yet again that Hook’s “decentness” and “goodness” only goes so far as Emma and “winning” her.
So they should probably stop trying to draw the comparison because it only makes Hook look worse.
